According to a study that compared the relation between different levels of physical activity and the risk of cardiovascular disease in elderly to middle-aged individuals, an inverse link was suggested between them. Moreover, it was found that modest levels of physical activity offer benefits in terms of reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, in contrast to being completely inactive. Among individuals > 65 years, hazard ratios for cardiovascular disease were 0.86, 0.87 and 0.88 in moderately inactive, moderately active and active people, respectively, in comparison to inactive people, other results are published in the European Heart Journal.
